Adjunct Professor, Human Resource & Leadership Development
Sharon S. Naquin, Ph.D. holds multiple degrees from Louisiana State University including two Bachelor’s degrees: one in Finance and one in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management; a Master’s degree in Arts and Humanities (MAH) with concentrations in English and history; and a Doctorate in Human Resource Education and Workforce Development. Through her academic and practitioner positions, Dr. Naquin has 25+ years of experience in all phases of talent management and organizational development.
Dr. Naquin founded and served as the Director of the LSU Division of Workforce Development within the School of Human Resource and Leadership Development where she, along with Dr. Reid Bates and Dr. Ed Holton, developed the LMSS (Louisiana Managerial Supervisory Survey). Through the Division of Workforce Development Dr. Naquin and her staff worked with state agencies to design and deliver customized workforce and management/leadership development training programs for state employees. She also taught graduate and undergraduate level courses on multiple Human Resource and Leadership Development topics within the School of Human Resource Workforce Development; authored numerous scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles and monographs; co-authored several books which have been translated into multiple languages; and served on numerous graduate committees. Dr. Naquin’s major areas of scholarly interests are workforce development, competency-based training, leadership development, learning transfer and employee engagement.
Her ongoing national and international consulting efforts allow her to formulate policies and procedures; develop overall strategic plans and initiatives of private and public sector organizations within guidelines set by owners and senior management; work collaboratively across all functional levels of departments; interact with top level executives of client organizations; perform all activities in the human resource/talent management area including screening, interviewing, selection, placement, executive onboarding, individual and organizational development initiatives, career and succession planning, skills gap analyses, needs analyses, competency analysis and workforce development, establishing performance expectations and standards, conducting employee performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, individual and program evaluation, as well as compensation and benefits analyses; develop team interventions and tools to reinforce learning/facilitation efforts for staff development; design, deliver and evaluate instruction and programs on various topics related to organizational goals and initiatives; apply adult learning and leadership development principles to workforce development initiatives; develop and monitor talent development programs and initiatives for organizations that are in compliance with all regulatory agencies; and design assessment instruments, conduct research, identify metrics, prepares statistical reports and audits to determine organizational value, cost effectiveness and ROI to properly evaluate effectiveness of training and organizational initiatives.
