The American Association of Blacks in Higher Education hosted its annual Conference last month in Atlanta Georgia under the theme, Pathways to Success within Higher Education: The New Faces of Race and Gender in Higher Education. This theme was directly in line with Dr. Petra A. Robinson’s research agenda.
Dr. Robinson, Assistant Professor in the School of Human Resource Development, not only attended the conference, but she gave four paper presentations.Oone of which these presentations was with doctoral student, Rhea Perkins. Dr. Robinson’s and Ms. Perkins’ presentation focused on the social and professional implications of skin color for women in higher education. Dr. Robinson presented with other collaborators on other work focused on racial microagressions; teaching diversity and social justice courses; and music and the Anglophone Caribbean identity.
