Parking Lot & Street Closures

Campus Construction/Parking Updates:

Hart Lot – The commuter parking lot near Kirby Smith Hall, as well as some adjacent pedestrian areas, are under construction for a new residence hall that will provide an outstanding facility for student residents.  A temporary pedestrian path has been created on the east side of the Hart Lot to provide access from the main part of campus to the Band Hall and Edward Gay Apartments.  This project will be ongoing through 2015.

A new commuter is being built north of the Hart Lot, and it is expected to be completed mid-semester.

Tiger Stadium –The South end zone expansion, which impacts traffic on South Stadium Drive near the stadium, is expected to be completed in August 2014.  This project is being done through the philanthropic efforts of the Tiger Athletic Foundation.

LSU Union – The building is under an interior renovation as the new Career Services Center is being relocated to the inside of the Union.  The project is expected to be completed in April 2014 and will provide a newly expanded center to assist students and alumni in their job searches.

The section of Raphael Semmes Road in front of the Union will soon be permanently closed to vehicular traffic to allow for safer and more adequate pedestrian flow in this area.

Animal and Food Science Building – Some pedestrian areas near this building and Tureaud Hall are being impacted during this renovation, which will improve lab space for students. The project is estimated to be completed within the next several weeks.

Atkinson Hall – Renovations to the building will be ongoing during the fall semester, but there will be improvements within the next two weeks that will make it easier for those navigating the building.

University Recreation –  The recreation fields on Gourrier Lane are being expanded, and parking and the tennis courts at the Student Recreation Complex are being improved.  The work is expected to be completed during the fall semester.

Tower Drive – Parking will soon be eliminated along Tower Drive between South Stadium Road and the Union Theater in order to create a pedestrian walkway. Once complete, the section between South Campus Drive and South Stadium Road will be closed to vehicular traffic and designated solely for pedestrian and bike use.

The section from South Campus Drive to the Union Theater will introduce an extra-wide pedestrian sidewalk and bike path to enhance pedestrian safety, with continued vehicle access permitted only to access the Nicholson and Coates Hall parking lots.  Staff members who utilize Tower Drive for parking should visit the Parking and Transportation Services website to review the campus map for alternate parking locations. The handicapped and medical spaces will be relocated to Tower Drive around the Memorial Tower and along South Stadium Road next to the Frey Computing Building and the Dairy Store. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in October.

Tower Drive will soon be gated at the entrance from Dalrymple Drive near the T. Boyd parking lot.

T. Boyd Hall – The lane between T. Boyd and Foster Halls that leads to the back of Middleton Library will soon be improved to promote pedestrian safety.
