On April 8, 2015 LSU Police received a call in reference to a male subject soliciting persons for money in the area of Pleasant Hall on the LSU Campus. It was also reported that the male subject had produced a knife and threatened the victim with the knife. Officers responded to the area quickly however the suspect had left the immediate area on a bicycle. While looking for the suspect, officers observed a male subject fitting the description given by the victim. As the officer attempted to approach the suspect, he fled on the bicycle. After a short chase officer were able to detain and take him into custody. He was identified and found to be in possession of the knife that was believed to have been used in the incident. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect and she was able to get away from the suspect without injury. The suspect was unable to take any items from the victim.
Officers learned that the suspect had also been involved in another incident involving the knife off campus. BRPD was notified and responded to the scene as well. They also charged the suspect with Aggravated Assault for the incident off campus. The suspect, Curtis J Honore, 53 of Baton Rouge was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Attempted Armed Robbery and Resisting Arrest.
