Attempted Robbery reported near West Campus Apartments

On April 10, 2014 just before 8:45 pm LSU Police received a report of an Attempted Robbery that had occurred the parking lot northwest of West Campus Apartments.  The victim told officers that as she was exiting a vehicle to get into another vehicle, she was approached from behind by the suspect.  The victim also advised that the suspect told her to put her hands up, at which time she jumped back into the vehicle and the suspect fled on foot, last seen running west on Aster Street towards Nicholson Drive.  The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, skinny build, bald, possibly in his 20’s, wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.  At this time, it is not believed that any weapons were involved and nothing was taken from the victim.

LSU Police urge all members of the LSU Community to be extra vigilant and aware of their surroundings.  Anyone with information in reference to this incident should call LSU Police immediately at (225) 578-3231.

Attempted Abduction Reported

UPDATE 2/21/2014:

The victim who notified LSU Police that someone tried to abduct her on the LSU Campus last night has admitted to Investigators that she made up the story and the incident did not happen.  She was arrested for Criminal Mischief. 

 

On 2/20/2014, around 7:30 pm a female victim came to LSU Police Department and reported an attempted abduction.  She advised that she was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot just south of Nicholson Extension.  The victim advised that a black male subject exited a van parked in the parking lot, approached her and grabbed her by the arm. The victim was able to pull away from the suspect and run from the area.  The suspect got back into the van and fled the area last seen west bound on Nicholson Extension. 

The victim described the suspect as a black male, dark complexion, no facial hair, parts cut in both eyebrows, and a receding hairline. The victim further advised the suspect was wearing black baggie cargo pants and a black button down, collared, short sleeve shirt.

The van was described as a black older model box van with tinted windows and side double doors.

LSU Police urge all members of the LSU Community to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings.  We encourage everyone to walk in groups and avoid walking alone, especially at night.  Utilize campus transit when available and to contact LSU Police if you feel you need an escort to your vehicle or if you want an officer in the area as you go to your vehicle.

Armed Robbery reported near West Campus Apartments

On February 5, 2013 just after 8:00 pm LSU Police received a report of an armed robbery that had occurred near Aster St. just north of West Campus Apartments.  The victim advised that he was approached by a black male, 5’8” to 5’10”, approximately 180 lbs, wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants armed with a handgun. The victim’s wallet and phone were taken.  The suspect entered a green or grey vehicle, possibly a 2005 -07 Toyota Camry, driven by a second suspect.  The vehicle was last seen leaving campus east bound on Aster St.

LSU Police are actively investigating this incident.

2 Armed Robberies reported on campus

On November 18 at 10:55 pm LSU Police received a report of an armed robbery on Highland Road near Raphael Semmes.  The victim was walking when approached on foot by the suspect.  The suspect was described by the victim as a black male, approximately 6’3”, slender build, wearing a gray hoodie, khaki pants and white tennis shoes.  The suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded the victim’s property and the victim complied.  The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot until the victim lost sight of the suspect.

At 11:24 pm LSU Police received a second report of an armed robbery in Hart lot which is located just east of Kirby Smith Hall.  The victim advised he was approached by two suspects who demanded his property.  Both suspects were described by the victim as black males, one of which was the same description from the previous incident, who had a handgun.  Both suspects ran and were seen entering a white compact car being driven by a third person and fled the area.

Baton Rouge Police are also working an armed robbery with the same suspect descriptions that occurred on State Street in the same time frame as the Hart Lot incident.

LSU Police are actively investigating these two incidents and urge all of the LSU Community to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.  Anyone who has any information or sees any suspicious activity, are encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.

Armed Robbery reported on East Campus Drive

An armed robbery was reported just after 3 am on October 13, 2013.  The victim advised while walking on East Campus Drive near the Law School, he was approached by a light colored pick-up truck occupied by the two suspects.  The passenger got out of a vehicle and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspect displayed a weapon in his waistband, at which time the victim gave the suspect his wallet and phone. The passenger then got into the vehicle, which was last seen turning onto Dalrymple Drive and leaving campus.

The passenger was described as a white male, early 20′s, thin build, wearing a hoody. The driver was described as a white male with black hair.

LSU Police make traffic stop; leads to arrests for Robbery, Burglary and other charges

LSU Police investigating three incidents from Monday morning

LSU Police wants the LSU Community to be aware of three incidents which occurred this morning, Monday July 22, 2013.

At about 8:15 am a female victim was approached by a male subject near Broussard Hall who asked to use her cell phone.  The suspect used her phone for a short period and then ran off with the phone. 

At about 9:30 am, near West Campus Apartments, a second female victim was approached by a male subject who attempted to take her laptop from her possession.  The victim screamed at the suspect and the suspect ran off empty handed.

Around 9:45 am a male victim was approached near 459 Commons and Blake Hall Area.  The male suspect asked to borrow the victim’s phone at which time the suspect ran off with the phone.  The suspect was seen getting into an older model, possibly maroon pick-up truck being driven by a second male.

LSU Police are actively investigating these three incidents.

We are urging all members of the LSU community to be extra vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times.  Be wary of unknown individuals approaching you and be alert to things that do not seem right, because it probably isn’t.

In addition we are asking that all member s of the LSU Community report any suspicious persons or activity immediately.  While the LSU Police are taking additional proactive steps to investigate and help deter these types of crimes from happening in the LSU Community, we cannot be everywhere at once.  IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.  You are our extra eyes and ears. The safety of all members of the LSU community is of utmost importance to us, and for that reason we are asking everyone to come together and look out for each other.

Reported Armed Robbery near LSU West Campus Apartments

An armed robbery was reported to have occurred on June 29, 2013, at 2am, near West Campus Apartments: two black males exited a maroon car and approached the victim.  The suspects then entered the car and fled north on Aster Street.  LSU Police responded and the investigation is ongoing.

Armed Robbery Reported Highland at State Street

The armed robbery of an individual is reported in the area of Chase Bank, Highland at State Street. Suspect is a black male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.  Baton Rouge City Police and LSU Police are in the area.  Use caution.

Robbery Reported Near Campus

An armed robbery was reported at Maestri Street (north of Aster Street) and Highland Road on August 31, 2011, at 3AM.  The suspect was carrying a revolver and is a black male, approximately 5’9”, 190 pounds, wearing an LSU purple shirt with gold piping.

Though this incident occurred off-campus, please remain aware of your surroundings. The vigilance of our community will help us all maintain a safe campus.
