If you are looking for a fun and memorable activity to do this weekend – please visit the LSU Libraries Special Collections located in Hill Memorial Library for “Audubon Day”! This family-friendly event is a unique opportunity to see and experience the Audubon double elephant folio of Birds of America. This rare set of four volumes published between 1827-1838 is certainly the most valuable published item in the libraries’ collections – a complete set sold recently for 12 million dollars. LSU Libraries’ copy belonged to one of the original subscribers, the Duke of Northumberland. You can read more about it their blog: http://news.blogs.lib.lsu.edu/2015/04/12/audubon-day_spring_2015/.
The event is free and open to all, but space is limited. There are four one hour viewing times of 10-11, 11-12, 12-1, and 1-2.
