Dr. Calvin B. DeWitt

The 2007 Veritas Forum at LSU will be held on March 14-15 with the theme of “The Environment: Does God Care?
This year’s speaker is Dr. Calvin B. DeWitt, Professor, Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. DeWitt, a scientist, writer, and conservationist, is also President Emeritus of Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies.

Wednesday, March 14

  • Afternoon colloquium: “Linking science, Ethics, and Practice in Ecological Restoration,” Woods Auditorium, Energy, Coast and Environment Building (Room 1001), 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Evening lecture: “Creation Care: Stewardship and Hope in Post-Katrina Louisiana and Beyond,” Dodson Auditorium (located between Stubbs and Audubon Hall & behind the fountain in the Quadrangle), 7:00-9:00 p.m.


Thursday, March 15

  • Luncheon talk: “Restoring our Coast and our World: Reasons for Hope,” Faculty Club, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

While all programs are free and open to the public as well as the university community, reservation is required for luncheon program, even if you are not going to eat at the Faculty Club.
