About National Volunteer Week
Build up your community and lend a helping hand by participating in National Volunteer Week at LSU. We challenge you to make a positive change as you participate in a week’s worth of free service events.
National Volunteer Week 2017 events include:
- Spring Greening Day: Tuesday, April 20, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., LSU — Sponsored by BASF, Spring Greening is a half-day service project to beautify the LSU campus as well as an opportunity to learn about sustainability and personal practices to support our environment.
- Hygiene Kits for the Homeless: Friday, April 21, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. — Donate travel-sized toiletries to be placed in hygiene kits for the homeless members of the Baton Rouge community.
- Letters to Veterans: Tuesday, April 24, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Free Speech Alley — Take a moment between classes and write a hand written letter to our servicemen and women that have selflessly sacrificed so much for our country.
- Kitchens on the Geaux Potato Drop: Tuesday, April 25, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., LSU Parade Ground — Volunteers will help bag 25,000 pounds of “ugly” potatoes that cannot be sold by grocers but are otherwise good to eat. The bagged potatoes will then be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
