The options are endless! LSU has more than 400 academic programs, both international and domestic, ranging from one week to one academic year. A popular option is to do a summer program in between the spring and fall semesters. The best place to start your search is to visit the peer advisors in 103 Hatcher Hall. You can also peruse the available programs and see what destinations interest you!
How do I apply?
You can apply online through the Study Abroad Portal for a summer program. Each program has a dedicated page with an “Apply Now” button. International exchanges and domestic exchanges require you to meet with an advisor in 103 Hatcher Hall first to discuss the application procedure.
Can first-year students study abroad?
Potentially! A first-year student can go on a winter break, spring break, or summer program if they have completed the required pre-requisites for that specific program. You can be found on the programs page in the Study Abroad Portal. First-year students are not eligible for semester or year-long programs, either domestic or international.
Can I use my financial aid?
In many cases, yes! It does depend on which program you will be enrolling in, so it is highly recommended that you meet with your financial aid counselor before applying to a program abroad.
