The newness of the school year has worn off, the weather is constantly changing and, worst of all, Tiger Stadium is closed until next September. Here are a few things to look forward to during the spring semester at LSU.
Baseball at the Box
Going to a baseball game in Alex Box Stadium always makes for a great evening. Being outside under a big Louisiana sky, smelling the fresh cut grass, and hearing the buzz about the game while fans share a bag of roasted peanuts has long been high up on students’ lists of favorite things to do. Come and see why college baseballs greatest fans live here.
Enjoy the Lakes
Finally, it has warmed up enough for everyone to step outside and enjoy the scenery. The lakes are a beautiful place to go for a run, go biking with friends, or even just stroll down the row. Feeling extra adventurous? Rent a canoe from the UREC and go canoeing with friends in the lake!
Those gymnasts sure know how to bring down the house and fill the PMAC. Gymnastics meets are a great time on campus! The gymnasts are amazing at what they do and the crowd absolutely loves it. Besides, how many times will you have the opportunity to watch someone score a perfect 10?!
Don’t forget to study! And where better than on the lawn in the Quad? The natural heat and sunlight is a great alternative to the fluorescents in Middleton Library. This will also give you a jump start on your summer tanning regiment.
LSU’s Track and Field teams are among the best teams in the nation and have the most National Championships (31!) of any other sport on campus. Meets can be long, but you can always go and catch our talented athletes showcasing what they do best. And hey, it never hurts to try something new!
You can enjoy Groovin’ on the Grounds once each spring where a big-name artist will play a free concert for all students. In the past few years Akon, One Republic, Grace Potter, Ludacris, Corey Smith, and Hunter Hayes have entertained students for an evening at Groovin’. We’re still waiting for the big announcement of this year’s act. **Fingers crossed for Justin Timberlake!**
The football team will make an appearance one time during the spring semester during the Spring Game. This inner-squad scrimmage is the first time that our newest Tigers will play on Les Miles’ grass in Tiger Stadium, and they do not disappoint.
