When you think of hot spots around campus, the Indian Mounds and Parade Ground come to mind. These are all been-there, rolled-down-that, places. LSU has much more to offer. Enjoy these “hidden gems” on campus.
The Dairy Store is located on the corner of South Stadium Drive and Tower Drive. You can get delicious dairy products including cheese, milk, and, of course, ice cream! There are 16 flavors including everyone’s favorite, Tiger Bite, which is a golden vanilla with blueberry swirl to match LSU’s colors of purple and gold. It may be a little bit of a walk to get there, but you won’t regret it!
Presentation Practice Rooms
If you’re nervous about giving a presentation, have no fear. Middleton Library has presentation practice rooms available for you. Each room is set up similarly to the classrooms on campus consisting of a lectern, computer, and very large plasma screen. Additionally, video cameras are installed so students can record themselves and view their presentation. This is a great resource to access if you ever have a group project.
The Living Room in the Journalism Building
“I love how it’s quiet and there’s beautiful art on the walls. It’s a really cool place to study.” –Evan L., Sophomore
The Holiday Forum in the Journalism building is commonly called ‘the living room’ among Manship students and for good reason. The atmosphere in the forum makes you feel as though you are in your living room at home. It has multiple tables and comfy chairs for studying with natural light coming in from outdoors. You can also sit outside on the patio that overlooks Victory Hill and Tiger Stadium.
Mystery Places in the Student Union
The Union has much more to offer besides the Tiger Lair Food Court. The third floor of the Student Union is home to a full-functioning computer lab with access to printers. This is the same computer lab that you have to walk through in order to get to the fourth floor of the Union. Yes! The Union has four floors! Who would have known? The fourth floor is home to many meeting rooms that are available for you to reserve online as well as the Greek Life offices.
Potato Line at On the Geaux
“It’s awesome! It’s cheap and delicious and takes you the least amount of time to get out of anything in the Union. It’s $2.50 and I love it!” – Emily D., Junior
This is literally a “hidden” gem at LSU. Did you know that you can get a baked potato for lunch in the Union? It’s a delicious, wallet-friendly, meal that you can grab quickly between classes. The potato line is separate from the sometimes-long salad line in On the Geaux and is located just to the left of the counter. You can load your potato up with anything offered at the salad bar. Add the buffalo chicken, you won’t regret it!
