I am a junior majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Biology. In the lab, I assist with the NRDA project, fish care and maintenance, ammonia assays, and laboratory maintenance. This is my second year in the Galvez lab, and I am looking forward to learning new skills and laboratory techniques. After completing my undergraduate studies, I am planning to apply to medical school.

I am a freshman in the LSU Honors College pursuing a major in Biological Sciences. As of fall 2015, I am heavily involved in two projects: one is a recovery study on fish previously exposed to oil, and the other is a trans-generational study on embryonic exposure. For both of these projects, I collect data on embryonic development, heart rates, and mortalities, and collect and analyze water quality parameters. Around the lab, I assist with fish spawning at the LSU Aquaculture Research Station and am involved in routine fish care and maintenance of the larval aquatic systems. Working in the Galvez lab has allowed me to actively participate in experimental design and observe concepts that I have studied in my coursework. Upon graduation, I plan to attend medical school in order to pursue a career in surgery.

I am a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics. I am also a member of the Honors College at LSU. In the lab, I mostly aid in fish and aquatic system care. Working with the Galvez lab has been a great opportunity to gain insight into biological research and to further integrate what I learn in the classroom in a practical setting. After graduating from LSU, I plan to either apply to medical school or to work towards a Ph.D.

I am an undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry. In the lab, I maintain and tend to the quality and care of the organisms in aquatic laboratories. I also assist in the following: serial dilutions, decontamination of lab equipment, construction of aquatic facilities, and, most currently, flame spectroscopy and the observation and experimentation of cardiology during different stages development of fish embryos. After my undergraduate studies, I plan to attend medical school and become a cardiothoracic surgeon.

I am a junior majoring in Biological Sciences at LSU. My major work in the Galvez lab is experimental setup and data entry for the NRDA project. I also assist with aquatic system setup, maintenance, and plumbing. The lab gives me an opportunity to gain technical experience and allows me to observe and apply concepts of science and experimental design that I learn in my classes. Following my undergraduate studies, I plan to apply to medical school.

I am a freshman majoring in Biological Sciences at LSU. I am also part of the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College. In the Galvez lab, I assist mostly with fish care and aquatic facility maintenance, ammonia assays, oil decontamination, and general lab maintenance. Assisting in the research projects currently underway at the lab has given me the opportunity to observe and apply research and laboratory techniques firsthand. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan on applying to medical school.
