All of us here at the Galvez Lab would like to welcome Chelsea Adams, the newest graduate student in the lab! Chelsea hails from the small town of Hoffman, North Carolina. She first knew she wanted to be a marine biologist when she witnessed a sea turtle stranding due to a boating accident when she was nine years old. For her undergraduate studies, she went to the University of North Carolina, Wilmington (UNCW) and received her B.Sc. in Marine Biology. Here, she conducted her undergraduate research on sea turtle ecology under the direction of Dr. Amanda Williard. After graduating in 2014, Chelsea spent a year working at the North Carolina Coastal Reserve as a sea turtle monitoring assistant and as a science tutor at Cape Fear Community College. For her Ph.D., Chelsea plans on investigating trans-generational changes in epigenetics as a result of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) exposure in Gulf killifish. Welcome, Chelsea! We are so excited to have you here!
