The LSU Beta Zeta Chapter of Beta Phi Mu was founded in 1974 and holds its annual meeting and initiation just before the SLIS Awards Banquet. Beta Phi Mu is an International Library and Information Studies Honor Society. Graduates of American Library Association accredited professional degree programs are invited to be initiated based on their scholarship and service. Invitees must have a grade average higher than 3.75 and must be judged by the faculty to have strong potential for leadership in the profession.
