Dr. Boryung Ju was named as one of the 2013-2014 SEC Visiting Faculty Travel Grant recipients. The SEC Visiting Faculty Travel Grant was created in 2012 by the Chancellors and Provosts of the SEC schools to “enhance faculty collaboration that stimulates scholarly initiatives between SEC universities.” Currently, the SEC is comprised of 14 universities.
Dr. Ju used this opportunity to launch an SEC-HCI (Human Computer Interaction) Initiative with Dr. Dan Albertson from the School of Library & Information Studies at the University of Alabama. In the Spring of 2014 Dr. Ju will travel to Tuscaloosa, AL to start a research collaboration to enhance the presentation and representation of digital data & information for digital libraries and data repositories. As an initial project of this effort, Drs. Albertson and Ju will develop multiple-faceted user interaction frameworks; design & implement prototype interfaces for digital libraries. They plan to extend the SEC-HCI-Initiative to include research collaborators from other Library & Information Science Programs in the SEC such as the Universities of Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and South Carolina.
