A number of American and secondary schools abroad participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This is a comprehensive two-year curriculum leading to examinations and a possible IB diploma if the requirements of the full program are satisfied. Students are encouraged to have their official IB diploma record or examination results sent from the testing center for evaluation after applying to the University. Advanced placement credit may be granted in appropriate subjects to students who earn a grade of 4 or better on the IB higher level examinations. Credit is not allowed for IB subsidiary level examinations.
Policies governing minimum required scores and the acceptance of credit of IB examinations are established by the National Council on the Evaluation of Foreign Credentials and by the appropriate academic departments. Credit given for IB scores is subject to change. Current departmental recommendations may be obtained by contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Please note: The credit posted on this chart is for IB exams taken in the 2014-2015 academic year (August 2014-July 2015) only. Courses listed are subject to change after being reviewed yearly. For credit awarded in previous years, use the General Catalog. Select the specific year, then select Undergraduate Admissions in the left menu, then Other Enrollment Opportunities.
