LSU students are a diverse group. They come from all over the globe with different dreams, goals, and aspirations for their respective futures. Here is a chance to get to know them one at a time. No matter his or her academic discipline, everyone has a story to tell…including you!
Q: What made you decide to attend LSU?
A: I came here because, after I took a tour of the campus, I was captured by the beauty of the live oaks, and the feeling of community and pride that fills the campus’ atmosphere. When I looked around at the students, I already felt like I was part of the tiger nation. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my college experience. LSU has really made me feel at home.
Q: Are there things that surprised you once you got here?
A: I was really surprised about how close everything was to my residential hall; I loved being able to walk to virtually any spot on campus within 10 minutes or less. I was also surprised at the class sizes and the care and helpfulness of each professor. My idea of college was scary professors who didn’t care about you. That’s not the case at all.
Q: What is your favorite thing about LSU?
A: Even though I love the academic aspects of college, my favorite thing would have to be the athletics. Football is such a huge tradition here and I really enjoy taking part in the tradition. There is nothing like going to a sporting event as an actual LSU student. The rush of pride that fills your body is only something that can be experienced as a student or alumni. I also love seeing fans of all ages at every sporting event, sharing laughter and pride. The athletics at LSU really bring everyone together and create that feeling of one big happy family.
Q: What are your goals and how is LSU helping you accomplish them?
A: My goals are to learn as much as I can and to become the most educationally aware adult I can be. LSU has definitely given me all the tools that I need for my success as a teacher, a citizen, and just a person overall.
Q: What advice would you give prospective students?
A: I would tell them to stop considering and attend! There really is no other place like LSU. As someone who was hesitant about coming here, when I was a senior in high school, I can speak from experience when I say that a student who attends LSU will have no regrets. You will enter school as “just you,” but when you leave you will bleed purple and gold, and you won’t be “just you,” you will be “the best you possible.”
