LALINC Executive Board
The Louisiana Board of Regents commissioned a Task Force on Libraries to investigate the needs of Louisiana academic libraries in 1990. The Task Force on libraries was reorganized in 1992 as the Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium (LALINC) which is comprised of all public and private academic library directors in Louisiana.
LALINC Collection and E-Resources
The charge of the Collection and E-Resource Committee is to study collection development issues primarily for electronic resources; identify and recommend databases, electronic journal packages, electronic books etc. for purchase, selection, and de-selection; look at the big picture of resources in the state. Identify and evaluate resources to meet the information needs of Louisiana academic libraries; appropriate to the role of the committee, identify ways to assist libraries affected by hurricane/flood damage in restoring collections/services/facilities; the chairperson shall submit an annual report to the Executive Committee at the end of the fiscal year
LALINC Information Literacy
The charge of the Information Literacy Committee is to articulate the learning outcomes and suggested assessment measures for the Board of Regents Statewide General Education requirement of “informational literacy”; identify and recommend ongoing information literacy activities, best practices, outcomes, assessment, and other techniques etc. that will assist LALINC libraries; incorporate the ACRL Information Literacy Standards whenever possible; appropriate to the role of the committee, identify ways to assist libraries affected by hurricane/flood damage in restoring collections/services/facilities; the chairperson shall submit an annual report to the Executive Committee at the end of the Fiscal year.
LALINC Research and Development
The charge of the Research and Development Committee is to keep abreast of developments and make recommendations for future development of the consortium; if time and interest permit, study pertinent issues such as: the developing electronic resource management (ERM) products in relation to the needs of member libraries; appropriate to the role of the committee, identify ways to assist libraries affected by hurricane/flood damage in restoring collections/services/facilities; the chairperson shall submit an annual report to the Executive Committee at the end of the fiscal year.
Louisiana Library Network Commission (LLN)
The charge of the LLN Commission is to assist the Louisiana Board of Regents and Louisiana State Univeristy in developing policies, procedures, and priorities for long-term maintenance, operation, and enhancement of the Louisiana Library Network and to make annual recommendations concerning funding needs.
LOUISiana Digital Library
The charge of the LDL Committee is to investigate the needs of the LOUISiana Digital Library, keep abreast of emerging technologies, identify and recommend best practices, outcomes assessment, and other techniques that will assist member libraries.
