Post-Program “Walk-About” to Follow
Cost: Members: $10.00 ~ Non-Members: $15.00
Hilltop’s annual pre-sale TEASER: Bringing Natives Home, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, SEPT 27th in the Beverly Brown Coates Auditorium, will continue our celebration of natives and the 240th anniversary of naturalist William Bartram’s visit to Louisiana in 1775 at the Arboretum’s new education facility. LSU Professor Emeritus and landscape architect Wayne Womack will wax eloquent on native trees and shrubs, helping you get acquainted with over 25 native trees, shrubs, perennials, wildflowers and grasses that might like to take up residence in your garden. In addition, Mila Berhane with Greenhand Nursery will delight us with her focus on perennials. Both will offer friendly reminders that no matter how much any individual garden may seem like a separate place, a refuge, or an island, it is in truth a part of the larger landscape in which native plants are not only beautiful, but provide biodiversity needed for a healthy functioning ecosystem.
After the program the guest speakers will lead a walk-about through over 5,000 plants that will already be set up for PlantFest! the following weekend (Oct 3rd and Oct 4th). We can’t think of a better way to finalize a plant list in preparation for the sale, and to ask the plant expert questions.
Questions or to Register for the Teaser call 225.767.6916 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
PlantFest! proper is set for Saturday and Sunday, OCTOBER 3rd and 4th, at the Arboretum.
