On the federal level, LSU is primarily concerned about student aid programs and research budgets of the executive agencies. President Obama’s FFY2013 budget calls for a slight increase in R&D, though growth occurs in some agencies while declines in others. The proposal would include for the Department of Education an increase in the Pell Grant from $5,550 to $5,635.
