Dr. Sarah Liggett was raised on a family farm in Rushville, Indiana, a small town with a population of about 7,000. Her hobbies include traveling, knitting, refinishing old furniture and reading. “I only read good books. If I don’t like a book, I don’t keep reading.” One of the favorite parts of her job is the people she works with. “Students, faculty, staff, my husband—they are why I’ve been at LSU for 30 years.” Of all LSU events, including Tiger football, Dr. Liggett’s favorite is the Distinguished Communicator Medal Ceremony.

Rebecca Burdette, a Brusly native, earned her BA in Mass Communication in 2000 and her MA in Marketing and Communications in 2008. Rebecca enjoys seeing students and faculty grow and succeed. She loves reading, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family. Her favorite LSU events are Tigerama and TEDxLSU, of course! She also loves hearing the Memorial Clock Tower chime from her office. While the LSU Quad is an amazing place to come to work each day, if she had to choose another job it would be to take the place of the Travel Channel’s Samantha Brown!
Melissa Thompson, PhD

Dr. Melissa Thompson grew up in Searcy, Arkansas. She earned her BA in Communication Studies from LSU in 2006, her MA in Communication Theory from the University of Memphis in 2008, and her PhD in Communication from the University of Memphis in 2014. Melissa enjoys cycling and teaching cycling classes at the LSU UREC. Her favorite LSU events include LSU football, LSU baseball, and TEDxLSU. Jean Coco, the newest member of the CxC staff, earned her BA in English literature from LSU and her MA in Professional Writing and Rhetoric from George Mason University. In her free time, she enjoys grilling, running with her dogs, and writing personal essays. In her role as a faculty support coordinator, her favorite task is assisting faculty with designing robust writing assignments, integrating ePortfolios in a course, and developing creative communication-to-learn activities. Jean anticipates that her favorite CxC event will be the Summer Institute. If she could create a dream job, it would be to direct writing workshops in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Lezlie Haynes is from El Paso, Texas. She attended both LSU and Southeastern Louisiana University. Lezlie spends her free time running and participating in running events. One of her favorite LSU events, like many of us, is LSU football. She enjoys helping other, but if she could have any job in the world, she would be a military nurse.

Dr. Becky Carmichael earned her PhD in Biological Sciences at LSU. She is CxC’s College of Science and School of Coast & Environment Coordinator. Working with others to reach their desired goals and go beyond is Becky’s favorite part of her job, along with celebrating with faculty and students each semester at the Distinguished Communicator Medal Ceremony. Becky enjoys exploring nature, yoga, wine tasting, and everything related to food. Most of all, she enjoys spending her time off with her awesome toddler, Keller.

Vincent Cellucci, CxC’s College of Art + Design Studio Manager, earned his MFA in Poetry from LSU. He attended Loyola University and received his Bachelor’s degree in English Writing with a background in studio arts, studying painting with Carol Leake, and cross-enrolled at Tulane University, where he studied glassblowing with Gene Koss. When not helping students via CxC or working on his own poetry, Vincent is off scuba diving, whitewater kayaking, biking, cooking, or painting. The favorite part of his job is working with impressive, young dreamers to articulate their vision to the rest of the world and watching them succeed. One of Vincent’s favorite things about working at LSU is that they observe Mardi Gras as an official holiday!

Boz Bowles, CxC’s College of Engineering Coordinator, is from Richmond, VA. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University. His hobbies include martial arts and drumming. His favorite LSU event is E2 Camp. One of the best books he’s read lately is The Handbook for Lightning Strike Survivors by Michele Young-Stone. He loves the energizing activity that faculty and students bring to his studio each day. Like Melissa, if he could have any dream job, he’d still want his current job and maybe just come in a few hours later.

Kevin DiBenedetto, a Port Allen native, earned his BA in Mass Communication from LSU. He enjoys photography and is a film buff. Baseball games are his favorite LSU event and he loves that his job brings something new each day. If not working for CxC and had the choice of any job in the world, Kevin would be living in Italy, pressing extra virgin olive oil, and making the best artisan loaves of bread you’ve ever tasted!
