New student organizations can be created anytime with a group of five or more LSU students.
We would be happy to meet with your organization at any point during this process. E-mail our involvement team.
How to Start an Organization
There are five easy steps to starting a student organization at LSU:
1. Gather five founding members
All founding members must meet the Officer Requirements.
2. Confirm an advisor
3. Draft a constitution.
You may find our Guide for Writing Constitutions helpful and our Campus Life staff is happy to help if you need it along the way.
4. Formally submit your application.
Follow the Steps to Submit a New Org Application through TigerLink after settling your founding members, advisor, and constitution.
5. Complete officer training.
Two of the five founding members of the organization will need to complete an officer training. To schedule your training, e-mail us. Please note that Greek organizations will need to complete additional training conducted by Greek Life.
Campus Life will contact the student who submitted the registration within TigerLink if additional information is needed to complete the registration process. Please allow up to two weeks for your application to be reviewed.
Additional Registrations for Special Groups
Social fraternities and sororities who would like to be affiliated with Greek councils should start the registration process by contacting Greek Life at (225) 578-2171.
Recreational organizations who would like to apply for Sport Club status should contact University Recreation at (225) 578-7029 after the organization has been granted active status by Campus Life.
