Step up to the plate to swing against hunger and homelessness!
LSU Campus Life has taken a service trip to Houston each summer for the past four years. With many students seeking to serve community needs, we will host our annual summer project to explore the issues of hunger and homelessness in two communities and enjoy some summertime entertainment.
LSU students will spend two days working with agencies addressing homelessness and hunger in the greater Houston area. To prepare for this service trip, the group will also serve on Saturday, June 6 with Baton Rouge agencies who address homelessness and hunger. Our goal is to do more than simply serve: by comparing the needs of two southern U.S. cities, Campus Life hopes to spark an ongoing conversation among the 26 student participants about caring for our most vulnerable citizens.
During our time in Houston, this service group will attend the Friday, June 12, baseball game between the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners. Prior to the game we will take a private group tour of Minute Maid Park. Following the game, we will enjoy Friday night fireworks and live music in the park.
