Canapalooza is an exciting service opportunity during Homecoming to support the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. The LSU and Baton Rouge community will collect thousands of canned goods, which will be used to build a replica of Tiger Stadium and Mike the Tiger’s Habitat. In 2012, LSU donated 19,129 pounds of food as a result of CANapalooza collections.

Tuesday, October 14: 6 – 7 p.m. (drop off at PODS)
Thursday, October 16: 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. (drop off at PODS)
Friday, October 17: 12 – 1:30 p.m. & 3 – 4 p.m. (drop off at PODS)
Monday, October 20: 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. (drop off directly to Parade Ground Tents)
Tuesday, October 21: 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. (drop off directly to Parade Ground Tents)
Wednesday, October 22: 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. (drop off directly to Parade Ground Tents)
How You Can Get Involved
(1) Donate cans.
Look for the large Food Bank barrels in the LSU Student Union, UREC, residence halls, and Greek chapter houses. Barrels will be available on campus Monday, September 23 until Tuesday, October 24.
(2) Set-up your own food drive.
Attend a Can Captain Info Meeting September 16 or 19 and receive information on the proper way to conduct a CANapalooza drive. Individual food drives begin September 23, and organizations can drop off donations October 7 until October 23 in a POD storage unit on Tower Drive. To get started, download and submit the registration form by September 20 to the Campus Life office, 350 Student Union Building.
(3) Participate in the CANapalooza build.
Members of the LSU and Baton Rouge community will build replicas of Tiger Stadium and Mike the Tiger’s Habitat in structures designed by Remson Haley Herpin Architects. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the Baton Rouge community can register a night and time to build between Wednesday, October 23 and Friday, October 25.
