You can be the change you want to see in the world and have the experience of a lifetime by becoming a member of the CHANGE Break: Ecuador 2014 team. From May 27-June 7, 2014, the CHANGE Break team will travel to Quito, Ecuador, for an unforgettable, ten-day alternative service break working with children and completing construction projects at a local orphanage.
About CHANGE Break
Fifteen students and three advisors embarked on a 10-day service experience in Peru on May 28, 2013. The group completed construction work and led instruction in an after-school program in Cusco, a large city, and Cai Cay, a small village, in Peru. The group completed various English-teaching and outdoor activities that they had planned throughout the spring semester. Not only did they help impact the lives of those they served, but they experienced a change in themselves.
As a member of the CHANGE Break: Ecuador 2014 team, you will meet with your teammates bi-weekly until departure to prepare for this service-learning trip. This is a service-learning trip, so we will reflect on our experiences before, during, and after the trip.
The participant fee for CHANGE Break Ecuador is $1,100. This fee covers flight, transportation, and accommodations in country, travel insurance, and some meals. You will be responsible for covering your passport and visa if needed (U.S. citizens are not required to obtain a visa), any vaccinations, souvenirs, and some meals. On October 30, $250 of this fee will be due. The remaining $850 will be due on January 29.
To apply, please complete the online application and submit a résumé and a cover letter by Monday, September 30 via email to Volunteer LSU. The cover letter should explain why you wish to apply to become a member of the CHANGE Break Ecuador team and what you would bring to the CHANGE Break team.
