A few days ago, my country was met with a devastating super typhoon Haiyan, the world’s most powerful storm to make landfall in recorded history. As stunning as it may be, it certainly placed the country in painstaking damage and recovery stage.
While the aftermath of the typhoon continues to develop and unfold in central Philippines, organizations across the United States and around the world are mobilizing to help the nation with disaster relief efforts. LSU faculty, staff and students who wish to help the Philippines recover from super typhoon Haiyan, may be able to do so by donating to any of the organizations below.
Campus Life note: While volunteers and donations are important to disaster response and recovery, the best way to assist in this particular response is to consider contributing financially to organizations already supporting Hiyan relief efforts throughout Southeast Asia. Financial donations help to focus energy and labor on recovery and rebuilding instead of sorting, packing and transporting donated goods. Additionally, monetary donations enable organizations to meet their clients’ changing needs more quickly and efficiently.
