Frequently Asked Questions
I’m having trouble logging in or creating a username to register for my tour. Can you help?
To find out your auto-generated username, please call our tours office at 225-578-6908. We are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.
I signed up for a visit, but was told that I was waitlisted. What does this mean?
Waitlisting means that our tour is currently at capacity. Due to limited seating in certain parts of our campus visit, we can only register a certain number of students and guests for each tour. You will be removed from the waitlist and added to the list of registrants if another guest cancels their registration, depending on your position on the waitlist. You will be notified via email of this change.
We are traveling a long distance to LSU but the only day we can make it to campus the tour is waitlisting. Is there anything we can do?
As explained above, a waitlisted tour means that every seat in certain parts of the visit is currently reserved for another guest. Please call our office to discuss your special circumstances at 225-578-6908.
Do you offer campus tours on the weekends?
We do not offer campus tours regularly on the weekends, except for a few Saturday Tours per year. If you are planning to visit the campus on a weekend or at another time that we are not offering tours, we have a self-guided tour packet that we can provide for you. Please call our office at 225-578-6908 for more information.
Should parents and/or family members attend the tour too?
All of our tours are designed to accommodate both students and their parents or guardians. Please specify the number of guests that will accompany the student during the online registration process.
What is an address at LSU that I can enter into my GPS for my campus visit?
The buildings on LSU’s campus do not have physical addresses that a GPS will recognize. Your confirmation email will give you an intersection to input into your GPS as your destination. Additionally, LSU has a smart phone app called LSU Mobile that has an interactive map feature if you are lost on campus.
How should we dress for our tour?
Our guests often wear casual, comfortable attire. Please keep in mind that LSU is a walking campus, so comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
Inclement weather is forecasted for our tour or event. Will it be cancelled?
Tours and events take place rain or shine. If exceptionally severe weather is forecasted for your tour or event, such as a hurricane or tornado, it will be cancelled and you will be notified.
Will I receive a school excuse form for my visit to campus?
All registered students will receive an official school excuse form on University letterhead during check-in.
While on our campus tour, will we get to see specific buildings that relate to our majors?
Our walking tour is a general walking tour of the core part of our campus. While you will see a good portion of LSU’s campus on the tour, it is not possible to visit every academic building. If you are interested in touring the department of your choice or speaking to an academic advisor in your major area, you must contact that department directly to set up an appointment.
Can we tour the student recreation complex (UREC) during our campus tour?
Our campus tour does not include a tour of the recreation complex, but you are more than welcome to tour the facility while you are on campus. UREC tours operate on a walk-in basis, where guests can simply show up at the front desk of the UREC and a staff member will tour them around the complex. If you are unsure of the location of the UREC, your tour guide will happily give you directions.
Can we get a tour of the athletic facilities or speak to a representative from athletics?
Our office does not have the ability to schedule tours of our stadiums, practice facilities, training rooms, etc. If you are interested in scheduling a tour with the Athletic Department, please contact their office directly at 225-578-8001.
If you have any additional questions regarding Transfer Student Tours, please contact one of our LSU Liaisons at 225-578-6908 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
