Registration for Kickoff LSU is required to attend, and space is limited. Registration will open before Tuesday, August 4.

Welcome & Event Overview
Academic College Session #1*
Representatives from each academic college will discuss the programs within their college and answer any questions you may have about your prospective major.
*Kickoff LSU is structured around each student’s desired academic programs. Students will need to choose at least one academic college on their registration form. View a list of majors within each academic college.
Academic College Session #2* or Optional Session
If you are not interested in attending two different academic college sessions, you will have the option to participate in a one-hour campus walking tour, attend a Residential Life open house, or find out more about Admissions & Financial Aid as an alternative. Select “Optional Session” under College Session 2 on your registration form.
Lunch on your own
At check-in, you will be provided with a list of dining locations across campus. There are several dining options located in the Student Union (food court-style). You can also choose to eat in one of our on-campus dining halls (buffet-style).
Pick & Choose Events
You will have the opportunity to “pick and choose” the events that are most appealing to your interests. Pick and Choose events may include: campus tour, admission & financial aid presentation, residence hall tour, study abroad presentation, honors college presentation, UREC tour, etc. A complete list, along with times and locations, will be provided at check-in.
Parking for Kickoff LSU will be available at the Union Square Parking Garage located on the corner of East Campus Drive and Raphael Semmes Road. Signage will be available to help guide you to the designated parking area. Please see below for specific driving directions to the Union Square Parking Garage.
If you are using a GPS navigation system, enter the intersection of East Campus Drive and Raphael Semmes Road as your destination. Be sure to print the directions below in case your GPS directs you to drive through campus, which is restricted from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A block of rooms has been reserved at LSU’s premier hotel, the Cook Conference Center & Hotel. Please reference “Kickoff LSU” when booking your room. The Cook Hotel is located at 3848 West Lakeshore Drive on the LSU campus. Please call 866-610-2665 or visit The Cook Hotel’s website for reservations.
If you are staying at the Cook Hotel, you will be picked up at 8 a.m. at the hotel lobby entrance to be shuttled to the Student Union for check-in.
There are also hotels in the Baton Rouge area that offer discounts specifically for LSU visitors. View discounted hotels and book online.
How long will Kickoff LSU last?
Kickoff LSU is a day-long open house program lasting from 8:30 am to 3:45 pm.
Where should we park on the day of the event?
Parking is located in the Union Square Parking Garage on the corner of East Campus Drive and Raphael Semmes Road, behind the LSU Barnes and Noble Bookstore. There will be yellow Kickoff LSU road signs that lead to the parking garage. The parking attendant within the garage will provide you with a parking pass for the day.
Where is check-in located?
Check-In is located on the second floor of the Student Union. There will be Kickoff LSU check-In signs and student volunteers directing you to check-in from the parking garage.
When should we get to campus?
Check-In takes place from 8:00 to 8:30 am and the Welcome presentation will begin promptly at 8:30 am.
We are running late, what should we do?
Kickoff LSU headquarters and info station is located in the Union Theater lobby all day from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. If you will be arriving to campus late, please report to the Union Theater lobby. We will check you in upon your arrival and assist you with getting to the proper location to join the group for the rest of the Kickoff LSU activities.
We have another obligation; can we leave the event early?
Kickoff LSU is a day-long event lasting until 3:45 pm, but we understand you may need to leave early. Lunch takes place from 11:45 to 12:45 and following there will be Pick & Choose Events lasting through the end of the day. The Pick & Choose events are based on your personal interests, so you can attend what works best with your schedule.
My student needs an excuse for school. Where should we get one?
All students will receive a school excuse in the bags during check-in. If you need a special form filled out for your school, a staff member will be happy to assist you.
Should parents attend the program with their student?
Parents are welcome to attend the program with their student. We do have students that attend the program alone as well. It is a personal preference.
What kind of attire is required for Kickoff LSU?
We suggest casual attire for the event. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as LSU is a walking campus. Please also check the weather forecast and plan accordingly.
Where do we eat lunch?
Lunch is on your own from 11:45 until 12:45. We will provide you with a list of dining options on campus at check-in. There are many options to choose from including the on-campus dining halls or the Tiger Lair in the Student Union. If you’d like to eat in one of our on-campus dining halls (The 5 or 459 Commons), it will cost $9.95, and you will need to bring cash.

Can my other child attend the program as well?
You are welcome to bring a sibling. We do ask that if your sibling is in high school, he/she should register for the event separately.
Can I bring a friend with me to Kickoff LSU?
We ask that all guests who are in high school register for the event separately. This helps us plan accordingly.
I am not a high school senior. Can I attend Kickoff LSU?
Kickoff LSU is meant for high school seniors to explore their prospective majors and academic interests. However, if you will be in the Baton Rouge area anyway and you have an idea of what your academic interests are, we would be happy to register you for the event, provided there is still space.
Are there handicapped parking spaces in the Parking Garage?
Yes, handicapped parking spaces are located on the first level of the Union Square Parking Garage near the elevators.
How far is it from the Union Square Parking Garage to the check-in location?
You will check-in in the Union Theater lobby, which is located just a short walk from the parking garage. There will be LSU staff and students along the way to help guide you. You can also look for the yellow Kickoff LSU directional signs to assist you.
Can I park anywhere on campus?
No, parking is reserved for all Kickoff LSU guests in the Union Square Parking Garage, located on the corner of East Campus Drive and Raphael Semmes Rd. You must park in the designated area.
I’m staying at The Cook Hotel (the on-campus hotel). How will I get back to the hotel when I’m ready to leave the event?
The Cook Hotel shuttle will pick up on Tower Drive next to the Union Theater and will continuously transport guests back to the hotel from 1:00 – 4:30 pm.
Do you offer group visits on Kickoff LSU dates?
We do not offer group visits on Kickoff LSU dates. Kickoff LSU is based on each student’s academic and involvement interests, and we feel that students better explore these interests when they are not in groups. Also, space is limited at each Kickoff LSU, and registration is required to attend.
I’m having problems registering for Kickoff LSU. When I try to register, it says I already have an account, but when I click forgot password, I never receive an email to reset my account. What should I do?
Your on-campus event registration account is not linked to your myLSU account or your LSU application account. This information is only used to register for events. We would be happy to complete the registration process for you to make things easier. In order to register you for the event, please provide the following information:
- Student’s Name
- Student’s Email Address
- Cellphone Number
- High School Name
- Full Address
- College Session 1
- College Session 2
- Number of guests attending (not including the student) – Limit 2 guests
