Start off your day by visiting with up to two of our academic colleges! Because Kickoff LSU is structured around each student’s desired academic programs, you will need to select at least one during registration. View a list of majors within each academic college.
Lunch will be on your own. At check-in, you will be provided with a list of dining locations across campus. There are several dining options located in the Student Union (food court-style). You can also choose to eat in one of our on-campus dining halls (buffet-style).
You will have the opportunity to “pick and choose” various sessions that are most appealing to your interests. Pick and Choose sessions may include more information on Admission, Residential Life, Student Life, and even Campus Tours! A complete list, along with times and locations, will be provided at check-in.
A block of rooms are reserved at LSU’s premier hotel, the Cook Conference Center & Hotel. Please reference “Kickoff LSU” when booking your room. The Cook Hotel is located at 3848 West Lakeshore Drive on the LSU campus. Please call 866-610-2665 or visit The Cook Hotel’s website for reservations.
There are also hotels in the Baton Rouge area that offer discounts specifically for LSU visitors. View discounted hotels and book online.
How long will Kickoff LSU last?
Kickoff LSU is a day-long open house event lasting from 8:30 am to 3:45 pm.
Should parents attend the event with their student?
Parents are welcome to attend the event with their student. We do have students that attend the event alone as well. It is a personal preference.
What kind of attire is required for Kickoff LSU?
We suggest casual attire for the event. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as LSU is a walking campus. Please also check the weather forecast and plan accordingly.
Can my other child attend the event as well?
You are welcome to bring a sibling. We do ask that if your sibling is in high school, he/she should register for the event separately.
Can I bring a friend with me to Kickoff LSU?
We ask that all guests who are in high school register for the event separately. This helps us plan accordingly.
I am not a high school senior or junior. Can I attend Kickoff LSU?
Kickoff LSU is meant for high school seniors and juniors to explore their prospective majors and academic interests. However, if you will be in the Baton Rouge area anyway and you have an idea of what your academic interests are, we would be happy to register you for the event, provided there is still space.
Do you offer large group visits on Kickoff LSU dates?
We do not offer group visits on Kickoff LSU dates. Kickoff LSU is based on each student’s academic and involvement interests, and we feel that students better explore these interests when they are not in high school or organization groups. Also, space is limited at each Kickoff LSU, and registration is required to attend.
- If anyone in your party requires any disability accommodations, please email firstname.lastname@example.org prior to Kickoff LSU
