Summer Enrollment at Another Institution
Currently enrolled LSU students who are interested in taking courses during a summer semester or intersession at another institution, while not enrolled in classes at LSU, should first contact their academic advisor to ensure they are following the academic requirements for obtaining their degree at LSU. Credit allowed by Undergraduate Admissions is, in all cases, subject to review by a student’s senior college. The extent to which credit earned in other colleges and universities is accepted toward fulfilling degree requirements at LSU, including all campuses of the LSU System, is determined by the dean of the college awarding the degree.
Students with 60 or more hours at the time of summer enrollment will not be permitted to apply coursework taken at a two-year college outside of the LSU system to fulfill degree requirements, unless authorized to do so by the dean of their college or school. Written approval from the dean should be forwarded to the Office of Enrollment Management.
Students should consult the Tiger Transfer Tables to see if the course they are interested in taking has already been evaluated as equivalent to an LSU course. If the course does not appear on the Tiger Transfer Tables, the student may contact the corresponding academic department at LSU to request a course evaluation, prior to taking the class. This will help ensure the course will transfer as the student intends.
Upon course completion, students must have final official transcripts sent to LSU. Transcripts can be send through E-SCRIP, or students must request for the Registrar from that institution to mail an official transcript in a sealed envelope to the following address:Office of Enrollment Management 1146 Pleasant Hall Baton Rouge, LA 70803
Students should consult the General Catalog for more information pertaining to LSU’s Undergraduate Degree Requirements and Undergraduate Regulations before considering enrolling in another institution.
Students who are currently enrolled at LSU should contact the University Registrar for information regarding re-classifying residency.
