Alumni recruiters are dedicated LSU alums who volunteer their time to help with the recruiting efforts of this great university. Due to limited resources, our admissions counselors cannot reach out to all students who are interested in LSU. By volunteering as an alumni recruiter, you can help to recruit future generations of LSU Tigers.
Ways to Get Involved
Calling Prospective or Admitted Students
Communicating with prospective students helps to create a personal bond between LSU and the student. You may be asked to call a list of students in your area to encourage them to apply or congratulate them on their admission into LSU. Feel free to share your personal stories about your time as a Tiger.
Attending or Helping with a College Fair
Attending a college fair is an easy, fun way to represent LSU. Fairs increase LSU’s presence in the local community and provide a unique opportunity for personal interaction between alumni and students. Don’t worry if you don’t know all the answers! Your main job is to collect students’ information, as well as encourage them to view the admissions website and visit campus.
Attending “LSU on the Geaux” or “Gameday on the Geaux”
Our office hosts a number of events called LSU on the Geaux throughout the year in cities throughout the U.S., as well as special events associated with bowl games called Gameday on the Geaux. Mingling with alumni at these events allows students to feel like a part of the LSU family. Check the Programs & Events page often for updates.
Becoming the Recruiting Chair of your Alumni Chapter
You can establish a Recruiting Chair position for your alumni chapter and act as the point-of-contact between our office and your team of alumni volunteers. By growing an alumni recruiting base in your area, you will benefit LSU’s recruiting efforts tremendously.
Hosting a Send-Off Reception for Admitted Seniors
Alumni chapters and volunteers are encouraged to host a send-off reception to welcome incoming students into the LSU family. Students are able to meet other future Tigers from their hometown and start building friendships before even stepping foot on campus. This is also a great opportunity to start promoting your chapter to our next generation of LSU alumni.
