This is your last summer at home before you leave for college. There are so many things you can do to make the most of it. Check out a few of our suggestions below!
Take a class for college credit
Register for a summer course at a local college. This is a great way to earn credits before you even get to college! However, make sure that whatever you choose to take will be able to transfer over. A good way to check this out is by using our Tiger Transfer Tables. Lastly, if you do take a summer course, make sure you send your transcript so that LSU can add that course for credit! Also, keep up your GPA, or your admission may be withdrawn.
Eat at your favorite restaurant
Get in as many delicious meals as you can before you go to college. In addition to eating at your favorite restaurant, take some time to learn how to cook some of your favorite meals. Everyone should know how to make more than just a sandwich and a bowl of cereal. Trust me, those first couple of meals you try to cook for yourself will not be worth 5 stars!
Make time for your friends and family
Make new friends, but keep the old! College is perfect for meeting new people and making new friends, but you still want to maintain those relationships you’ve had throughout high school. Spending time with your family is really important too! You may not get a chance to be at every family function in the upcoming year, so spend time with them while you still can.
PRO TIP: Teach your parents how to work Skype or FaceTime before you leave!
Explore your hometown
Know what makes where you come from special! Do all of those touristy things you’ve never done before. You’ll probably learn something you didn’t know before and if not, at least you’ve gotten to experience something new!
Learn how to do your own laundry
This is a skill you will definitely need when you leave the house. You won’t want to learn how to do this without any guidance. Mom’s actually do know best on this one!
