LSU dining halls have everything from an omelet station, to a salad bar, to a Wood stone pizza oven, to LSU Dairy Store ice cream! But the best part about a dining hall for special diets is the “Terra Ve” section, which serves vegetarian options daily. There really is an option for everyone, no matter what kind of diet you have!
Vegetarian and Vegan Eating
When I first came to LSU in the fall semester of 2010 as a vegetarian, I was vey excited to see that the dining halls offered a vegetarian entree every day. From pasta to veggie burgers to eggplant parmesan, the dining halls always had something delicious, nutritious, and meat-free, ready to serve.
More recently than ever, gluten-free foods are in high demand. LSU dining halls keep a great supply of gluten-free options, such as breads, bagels, and brownies.
Where to Go
LSU has a lot of great places to eat. The Union has a lot of options such as On-The-Geaux, which has a sushi and make your own salad bar, which is ideal for gluten-free and vegetarian eaters. There is also a Jamba Juice, which has a large variety of healthy smoothies. No matter where you are on campus, you’ll be sure to find something that works with your diet.
Know What’s in Your Food
LSU’s dining website has a great feature that can help you find out what is being served that day, and if it works with your diet. Under “Menus” and then under “What’s on the Menu?” there is a description of what the dining halls will be serving that day. A great feature about this is that there is a legend to the left, telling you if the food is gluten-free, vegan, or vegetarian!
