When first coming to LSU, you might ask yourself, “What should I wear to class?” Here at LSU, we have a very diverse group of students, so there are many different fashions and styles sported on campus. In this blog post, you’ll see four different types of styles that are often seen around LSU.
The Sporty Student
The Sporty Student is one of the most popular looks at LSU. Sometimes when walking through the quad you might think you’re in a sea of gym clothes. Why, you may ask? This is because a causal outfit is easy and comfortable for a long day of classes.
Trent, a sophomore majoring in Business Marketing, is a sporty student. “I wear this type of clothing because it’s very comfortable. It’s about 75% of my wardrobe,” Trent said. Unlike his time in private school, Trent is thankful for ‘free dress’ at LSU. “We aren’t required to wear collared shirts and khakis to our undergraduate classes, so why wear that uncomfortable stuff when you can just wear t-shirts?”
The Stylish Student
While a lot of students opt for the comfortable look, the Stylish Student likes to dress a little more fashionable for class.
Alex is a senior majoring in Spanish and Business Administration and minoring in Communication Studies. Between keeping up with her studies and her social life, as well as being a member on the LSU Equestrian team, she still finds time to accessorize her outfits before class. “While I, like most LSU students, have their ‘roll out of bed in your pjs days’ my main campus apparel is a chill and trendy outfit with accessories,” Alex said. “I dress this way because I feel more confident walking around campus. And I honestly feel more comfortable in something that reflects my style & personality instead of hiding behind an oversized t-shirt and athletic shorts that everyone else is wearing.”
The Spirited Student
LSU is definitely a place where school spirit is strong. While walking through campus, there’s not a day where you won’t see at least a handful of Spirited Students. LSU has a newly-renovated bookstore that sells a lot of LSU apparel and accessories, and you can find anything from Polo shirts to cowgirl boots!
Kade is a junior majoring in Communication Studies who enjoys showing his Tiger pride while strolling through campus. “As an LSU tour guide and student, it’s almost second nature to wear purple and gold everywhere to show my support.”
The Sophisticated Student
The Sophisticated Student dresses to impress. It’s been said before that if you dress up for an exam it can actually help you do well. This is because dressing up helps you feel more confident and focused!
Mille, a senior majoring in Dietetics, believes in the power of dressing up for class. “I’m the VP of Recruitment for Panhellenic, so I like to represent the executive board well. I feel like you should always dress for the position you want to have, so if you dress up you’ll probably end up being more successful! And I also just like the way these clothes look. I’ve always dressed like this.”
